Apple's offer to open up tap-and-go tech to be approved by EU next month, sources say

As we are nearing the launch of ASUS‘ upcoming budget smartphone, the ZenFone Max Pro M2, we’re getting more and more details. Just yesterday, the handset was spotted in an alleged video revealing its key specs, and now, the device seems to have received the FCC certification. This comes just after the M2 passed Russia’s EEC and Wi-Fi Alliance certifications, among others. 

As per the Federal Communications Commission’s website, the ZenFone Max Pro M2 carries a model number of ASUS _X01BDA, which is in line with previous reports. The FCC label of the smartphone also mentions that the smartphone will support 2A charging. It also suggests that the phone will support dual-SIM connectivity. The label info of the smartphone however, shows an outline of the device, which only has a single camera at the back. This probably suggests that the phone’s sketch is for reference purposes only, since the Max Pro M2 is rumoured to arrive with dual rear cameras.

The FCC listing also confirms various connectivity options of the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2. Along with 2G, 3G and 4G (supporting Bands 2, 4, 5, 7, 12, 17, 38 and 41), the handset also offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC. The SAR tests conducted by the agency suggest that the handset remains well below the maximum limit of 1.32W/kg. 

To recap on the rumoured specifications, the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 is said to come with a 6-inch full HD+ display with a notch up top and an aspect ratio of 19:9. The device is reported to draw power from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 chipset, paired with up to 6GB of RAM. For imaging, the phone is tipped to feature a pair of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel shooters on the back, and a 13MP snapper for selfies. Similar to its predecessor, the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1 (review), the upcoming smartphone is said to pack a 5,000mAh cell.
